All are invited to The Bronx Museum to celebrate the opening of Ministry: Reverend Joyce McDonald and enjoy art, music, and light refreshments.

Curated by Kyle Croft, Director of Visual AIDS, in collaboration with The Bronx Museum, Ministry is McDonald’s first solo museum exhibition. It surveys her prolific output of ceramic sculptures from the 1990s to the present day. An ordained Reverend, McDonald’s artistic work is beautiful, intimate, and confessional—drawing on her own life experiences to convey universal truths about the human condition.

In addition to the artist’s work, Ministry features archival materials from McDonald’s life, including images taken by her photographer father at Farragut Houses in Brooklyn, where she grew up. The artist will also share her favorite music with guests at the exhibition opening—including a song she recorded herself!

A fully illustrated catalogue featuring essays by Croft and Dr. Jareh Das accompanies the exhibition and will be available to purchase from the Museum’s on-site gift shop.

*Due to space limitations, we are unable to accommodate large parties (10 or more individuals arriving together as a group) for this program. If you are planning a visit for 10+ people, please visit our Group Tours page and complete the required forms.
