St. Peter’s Lutheran Church proudly presents the 42nd annual Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival. This beloved tradition, held every year in early January, brings the splendor of the Epiphany to life with pageantry, music, and community celebration.

The festival will feature five performances:

Originating in 1340 at Queen’s College, Oxford, England, the Boar’s Head Festival commemorates the arrival of the Wise Men in Bethlehem to honor the birth of Jesus. At St. Peter’s, the Festival begins with a tiny sprite carrying a lighted candle, symbolizing the coming of Christ’s light into the world. From there, the spectacle unfolds with a brass fanfare, the procession of Lords and Ladies, woodsmen, shepherds, and even the famed Beefeaters—ceremonial guards of the Tower of London. The Philadelphia and District Pipe Band adds a stirring touch with their traditional music, while the grand arrival of the Three Kings bearing gifts guides the story of the Epiphany to its moving conclusion.

With a cast of nearly 200, accompanied by a choir and orchestra playing festive hymns, this performance is both an inspiring and entertaining event for the whole family.
