Teatro SEA, the nation’s premier Latino children’s theater under the leadership of Artistic Director Dr. Manuel A. Morán, proudly announces The Journey of Pura Belpré’s Tales, a new bilingual production celebrating the legacy of the first Puerto Rican librarian in New York City.

This vibrant and interactive family show brings to life the beloved folktales championed by Pura Belpré, through a dynamic blend of puppetry, live music, and storytelling. Children and families will be enchanted by timeless characters such as Pérez & Martina, Juan Bobo, and The Three Magi, as they embark on a magical journey through the rich traditions of Puerto Rican and Latin American folklore.

Recommended for ages 5 and up, The Journey of Pura Belpré’s Tales honors the enduring power of stories to preserve cultural identity and inspire new generations. Performed in both Spanish and English, the production invites audiences of all backgrounds to celebrate the beauty and strength of Puerto Rican heritage.
